The Funeral Consumers Alliance of Greater Cincinnati is a nonprofit organization. Our roots date back to 1963 when a group of Cincinnatians formed the Cincinnati Memorial Society. In the early 2000s the board of directors voted to join with the National Funeral Consumers Alliance.
Our purpose is to educate the funeral consumer on how to purchase their final wishes in an affordable manner. There are cost associated with dying that is difficult to get around. Even when you donate your body to the medical college there are cost associated with your anatomical donation that someone has to pay. The role of the FCAGC is the help you understand the charges, and to find a local funeral provider to handle the needed services.
Our group conducts “secret shopping” of the local funeral homes. In 2014 we have shopped over 50 funeral homes between Middletown, Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. The prices differences are noticeable. As an example: direct cremation prices vary from a low of $595, up to $3240 for basically the same type of services. It depends on the funeral home you choose.
